    Famous Arabs...

This topic has been on my mind for some time now..why arent there any famous Arabs? Technically, there are a few but none are famous for good reasons. For instance, everyone in the entire world nows of Bin Laden or Saddam Huessin but neither of those scumbags is famous in a postive way. In fact they only hurt the fragile image of Arabs. For sometime I've been fascinated by how Arabs are obsessed with famous people like Shakira because shes half-Lebanese or Salma Hayek because she's also half-Lebanese but Arabs fail to see that NEITHER Shakira nor Salma Hayek ever admits to being Lebanese. So who gives a crap, if they have Arab blood?

I decided to do a google search to see if there were any famous Arabs and I found this page on wikipedia:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Arab_Americans

And once again, NOBODY on that list of "Performers" has ever mentioned their Arab heritage. Well..nobody but Tony Shalhoub. :) Too bad his show is boring as hell.

I guess no one wants to be Arab...and most of the time I dont blame them for hiding the fact that they're Arab. I doubt that Salma Hayek or Shakira would have made it in Hollywood if they said they were Arabs.

Speaking of Hollywood, I recently saw that movie "You Dont Mess With the Zohan" by Adam Sandler...It was a typical Sandler movie..lots of crude jokes etc..etc.. and of course the Israelis looked cool, sophisticated, and compassionate while the Arabs were goat-herding/loving savages. But I will admit, this movie was somewhat nicer to Arabs then other Hollywood movies. At least in this movie, the Arabs in New York are portrayed as semi-normal....Sandler's character even falls in love with a Palestinan and marrys her.
